South Zeal Carnival 2005
Carnival & Children's Fancy Dress 2004

By 4 o'clock the weather had relented and clearing skies did bring a bit of relief to those on the committee,
as we hoped people would want to come out for the evening.

5pm saw the floats and walking entries begin to assemble and put the final touches to all the hard work that had gone into making their entries.
Slowly but surely they came and by 6pm we had a carnival!

Judging commenced and the lights and music filled the bottom of the village
and it almost felt like a photographer's conventionwith all the flashes going off.

Just before 7pm the Sound of the Bideford Youth Pipe Band came echoing out of School Lane as they paraded down to take their place.
A final check with the Police and we were off !

Slowly we made our way to the top of the village and out to Ford Cross, Down into Sticklepath and all the way back again.
One mile each way for those whose tired legs made it!

Some places were crowded with people glad and appreciative of the work that had gone into putting on a good entertaining show,
but in certain places it was eerily empty of people which was a shame as we're sure there are more people in both our villages and community
who might of enjoyed watching the procession.

Despite little or no support from outside Carnival's, South Zeal can still, put on a show
The whole event ran to plan and we are indebted to everyone who helped out throughout the day
including our road marshals, Devon & Cornwall Police, St John's Ambulance Kevin Glover & Ian Guscott , Robin Gilbert
plus anyone else who we've not mentioned here, but you know we do appreciate your help.

Will there be a 2006 Carnival ???? Not without your help !

A.G.M to be announced soon !
