We were on our summer school holidays, looking for something to do, when we heard that Robin Hood had been seen, lurking around outside Castle Drogo. As you may have noticed from our page on Drewsteignton, I was too early when I last went to Drogo, to be able to get any photos, so it seemed a good idea to take the kids and my camera as well.
As it turned out, I caught only a fleeting glimpse of Robin, although we did get to see Little John, Will Scarlet, a slim Friar Tuck and lots of nasty Normans. What I didn't get though, were any photos inside Castle Drogo (except the Chapel), as the National Trust tell you, after you get there, that photos are not allowed inside. Maybe they don't want you to show the dirty and cracked windows or the state of disrepair? It is still worth a visit though, if only to see what self indulgence can lead to, if you make enough profit from your fellow man.
As for Robin, I am told that he was also to be seen at South Zeal Recreation Ground on 28th August. I'm afraid I wasn't there. When you've seen one Robin Hood you've seen ........
