Church House, South Tawtonwill be open for 3 days next month, September 10 -12th from 11 am to 4 pm under the Heritage Open Days scheme.
We have been awarded a grant of £274000 by Heritage Lottery Fund, to restore this fine 15th Century Building (Grade II) which has a large area of smoke blackened thatch and a varied and interesting history. Work will start later on this year, and you may like to come and see the plans and hear what is going to be done.
Stewards will be there to help interpret the building, and both morning coffee and cream teas are available. Our local History Group will stage an exhibition during the three days, and 17th Century Pottery found during Church House excavations in 1965 will be displayed. St Andrew's church is nearby and will be open also.
