A Sign of the Times? |

I did not have much material for this page on Spreyton, so I drove there, to take a few pictures and pick up any information I could. After walking about the churchyard and then going along the main street, I came to the post office. I stopped to take a picture and, as I started to frame it, a car drove up and I thought 'Oh no, he will get in front of the post office and spoil the shot'. Anyway, he saw what I was doing and stopped short, for which I was grateful.

I went into the post office, which, like in most villages, doubles up as the local store, and asked if they had a booklet or leaflet about Spreyton. The lady looked puzzled and said she didn't think so and asked for confirmation from the gentleman behind the post office counter. "No, I don't think so, you could ask down the pub" he said. The lady said "We used to have one in the 1960's". "Don't worry" I said, not wishing to cause embarrassment, "It's not important".
