Spring came to Sticklepath at last with several days of warm weather and light rain. The Foundry opened on time sporting its new Launder. The Sticklepath Launder is where the water brought down from the Moor by the leat is fed into  a large trough before tumbling onto the large wheel. The wheel is driven by the force of the water and the machinery in the Forge bursts into action.

Many years ago local people would use the Launder to wash their clothes etc.  Launders were also used to wash ore, or in some cases, move molten metal.

The Roundhouse is back in business after its winter closure and all are welcome.

Pop out in to woods and along the Taw riverside and admire the wealth of wild plant life emerging from the winter slumber. Ramsons (Wild garlic) grow in Billy Green and they smell delicious.
