Sticklepath by David Watkins

February saw the sad passing of long-time Sticklepath resident Ron Scant (72). Ron was born in Throwleigh and moved to Sticklepath after 5 years in the RAF in 1955. He was a delivery man for Holman’s shop in the village. Ron delivered sandwiches and bread for 18 years for Endacott’s until his death. He enjoyed a couple of pints in the Taw River Inn most evenings and always looked forward to scampi, chips & onion rings on Saturday lunchtimes. Over 150 people attended his funeral in Sticklepath. Sadly missed.

STICKLEPATH AVOIDS GLOBAL WARMING!

Cold weather continues into March bringing snow and temperatures below freezing. So the universal Global Warming effect does not seem to affect Sticklepath (See pictures). The polar icecaps may be melting at an alarming rate but Billy Green is still snow-covered, even after the Met Office’s designated “First day of Spring” March 1st.

The cold spell did not deter audiences flocking to see the Old Time Music Hall. The show was a sell-out with a variety of local talented artistes. The pictures of the entertainment were kindly taken by Steve Whitehead.
