Terrific art trail
Local artists in West Devon are joined by others in the local authority areas of Teignbridge, Torbay and South Hams in this year's Nine Days of Art project that returns with its third arts and open studios trails that contain more eye appealing presentations than ever. Take to the road between September 10 th and 18 th and discover the world of artists who live and work in hidden valleys, moors and historic towns. Start out at the Salar Gallery in Hatherleigh and it is only a short distance to Okehampton, Sticklepath, Chagford and Cheriton Bishop with stops in each place where visitors can begin to enjoy a multitude of arts: painting, print-making, stoneware, photography, poetry, pottery, furniture, ceramics, mosaics and much more.
Go further afield and the journey through creative fields is boundless. Adding to the atmosphere is the ability to meet and buy from the artists and makers themselves. New and emerging names are exhibiting alongside internationally established artists and all will be welcoming visitors into their homes, studios, galleries, village halls, hotels, country houses and many other beautiful and unusual locations. Pick up a Nine Days of Art guide from a Tourist Information Centre or check www.ninedaysofART.co.uk to take the first step on a magical journey.
