Out and about in July
Belstone Village Fair was graced with fantastic weather on 10 July. The Cosdon Run was won yet again by Kevin Hagley in a time of 30 minutes 19 seconds, not surprisingly - given the conditions - several minutes outside his world record. 90 year old villager Mickey Dyer won the skittles with a three ball score of 17. The White Elephant stall even managed to sell the pot that the float money was in for £2 - it was a nice cigar box. Financially this was the best Fair ever, finally adding up to £1322

President's Day at Belstone Cricket Club followed an unusual pattern. Instead of the usual close match it was all over by 1.50pm - Presidents XI all out for 61, Belstone 64 for 1 in six overs and 24 minutes! Question - what to do until 7pm when the ram roast and BBQ was due? Well, the Presidents XI won a 20 over game and there was a leisurely tea.

Yeoford are now odds on favourites to win the Buckley Cup this season after finishing their eight fixtures with only one defeat. Belstone are doing well in the South Devon League with July wins over Exeter and Dawlish & Teignmouth. |
