Threshing South Tawton's Roof
I am honoured to be asked to video the various stages of the restoration of South Tawton's Church House. So far this has entailed a few sessions down at Dudley Luxton's farm to see the wheat stooks and then the threshing to prepare the roofing material. When I go, I always take along my stills camera so that I can get a few shots for this web site. Below are the stooks in the field, the threshing machinery and wheat bundles, waiting to be used and the threshing work itself. I would like to think that some 'Meg Wolton' of the future will find these pictures and find them an interesting record of the work of our local community in preserving our heritage for future generations.
