Round South Tawton - Beacon Villages Journal

There is a Deanery Songs of Praise at St Andrews church South Tawton, on the 23rd May. There is a bring and share tea at at 5-00 with the service at 6-00.

The Okehampton U16 rugby team has won the Landscape South West Cup after a thrilling final against Exmouth at Crediton last month. Three members of the team come from the local villages. Its the first piece of silverware that the junior section has won since the early eighties.

The South Zeal W.I. hold their Annual Cabaret evening on 22nd May at the South Zeal Victory Hall at 7-30. Your evening includes a ploughman's supper followed by homemade puddings made by the W.I. ladies and coffee. The evening then continues with entertainment by Hearts of Oak. Tickets are £6.50 and available by ringing me on 840522. They're selling fast, so don't leave it to late!

The next W.I. meeting is at Shelly Chapel room (because of the parish council election) on 13th at 7-30 and is a wine and cheese birthday social evening.

Cricket practice starts on 10th May at Belstone cricket club. It runs from 6-00 to 7-30 and welcomes all children to come along. We have a lot of games organised but we must have help from the parents each week, on a rota basis, to satisfy the Safety and Child Protection acts.
