Recycling really is Pleasant!
As one who has spent many a half hour, queuing up, in my car, at the Council Tip in Exeter Road, Okehampton, to dispose of some unwanted item, too large for the dustbin men to take, I was dismayed when I found out that there was no place to get rid of my old 'Yellow Pages' in the Waitrose car park. A kind lady there told me that I should take it to the Recycling Centre in the Exeter Road. I replied that they were only open Sunday mornings but she said 'No, I think they are open all the time now'. As I was passing there, on my way home, I thought I would, at least, look in.

What a surprise I got, when I found out that the Recycling Centre was indeed open and I was the only one there. Stopping only to take these few photos, I was in and out in a couple of minutes. How pleasant to find that the Council, which we are all prone to criticise, has got things very right this time. Gone were the queues of cars and the problem of trying to get your rubbish onto the one or two brimming skips available. Now there is a clean location with many various containers labled 'Metal', 'Wood', 'Papers', etc. My only minor quibble was that there was no way of finding out where 'Yellow Pages' went, until I asked a helpful member of staff. If Faith has now delivered your new copy, I would recommend that you pay the Recycling Centre a visit, next time you are on your way to Okehampton. And I'll give you a clue. Your old copy goes in the bin labled 'Cardboard'! |
