Free Web Hosting

I subscribe to a Newsletter for librarians or, as they prefer to be known - "people who find, use, manage and share work-related information" called Free pint [ http://www.freepint.com/] . One of my favourite items in this newsletter is called "My Favourite Tipples" where, each issue, someone lists six of their favourite websites. The most recent issue put me onto http://www.doteasy.com/ a Canadian firm who offer free web hosting, up to 100mb, if you buy a domain name from them. As the new .eu (Europe) domain names have recently become available and wanting to get one for Alezane, I took advantage of their offer and now have both a European domain name and a website all for $12 (£6 roughly).

As far as I can see, there are no catches. It is a genuine offer. Yes, of course, they want you to upgrade to one of their paid schemes, but as a perfectly workable website only needs between 5 and 25 mb (Church House is about 23mb) it really is an offer too good to miss.

If any of you would like to have a go at building your own website, they offer some simple web building software (basically taking one of their standard templates and tailoring it to your needs), all included in the price. Take my word for it, for $10 (£6) it is well worth having a go, if you are interested. You would spend that on a fish & chip lunch and then have nothing to show for it.

Anyone who does try it out and finds themselves in need of some help or advice, I would be happy to help. And, by the way, I get nothing for recommending this to you. The site does offer an extra 100 mb to you and the person recommending you, if you join, but I have already got that, so I have nothing to gain.

Why not have a look?
