This is the first ‘real’ edition of Staff News, always assuming it works! First, to explain the title.
Alezane has two full time members of staff, Pete, whom she calls he and Carol, whom she calls she. There are also some occasional, part time staff members, Rachel (called blond filly and Ben (the colt). Other than that, there are many members of her fan club, whom she meets most days on their way to school. Some are even adults. In fact, it is incredibly easy to become a member of Alezane’s Fan Club, just give her a Polo, a sugar cube, a carrot or piece of swede (or most any other goody) and you are automatically enrolled and she will remember you. I’m not quite sure yet what we will do about postal registrations, we will figure that out as the web site becomes more established with e-mail links and so forth.
Back to the full time staff. He is involved with mucking out, stable mending, fetching hay bales, walking Alli up and down the road etc. (you get the picture). He is not a rider although he has been known to sit on horses while they do what they want to. He also holds the record as being the only member of the staff who has not fallen off a horse although he has been on one that bolted and made him lose his stirrups while riding along a beach in Wales. When riding is involved, he sits on Tregony, which is rather like sitting in a large, comfortable armchair with very poor steering.
She, on the other hand, is the equestrian - the rider, the nutritionist, the pre veterinary advisor, the tack expert and the disciplinarian. All in all a fair division of responsibility. She also walks Alli down to the recreation ground and back in the mornings to keep the grass there in check. This used to be the responsibility of Annabelle, when Meadowsweet lived close by but now she has moved to a sunnier part of the village, Alezane volunteered to take over the work.
